This piece of hand carved Dushan Jade is carved in the shape of an Asian landscape. It was made in China by a master stone carver. The theme is a mountain scene along the Li River through the woods and up into the mountains. "Dushan jade" is comprised of saussurite, and while not considered a true jade as found in other parts of Asia. It does have a nearly identical specific gravity, color and hardness of Jade and it has been used as a standard carving stone in the Dushan, Nanyang, Henan province of China for centuries. The item weighs nearly four pounds and it stands about 5 1/4 inches tall. It comes with a detailed wood base.
