This piece of hand carved Dushan Jade was made in China by a master stone carver. The theme is a pair of loving Cranes. "Dushan jade" is comprised of saussurite, and while not considered a true jade as found in other parts of Asia. It does have a nearly identical specific gravity, color and hardness of Jade and it has been used as a standard carving stone in the Dushan, Nanyang, Henan province of China for centuries. The item weighs over two pounds and it stands about 5 3/4 inches tall. It comes with a detailed wood base.
